Children's Privacy Notice (COPPA Direct Notice)

This Notice supplements the Privacy Policy and is provided directly to parents and legal guardians of children under 13 in accordance with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") and equivalent provisions of the EU GDPR (Article 8) and UK-GDPR.

2. What Information We Collect From Children

We only collect what is necessary to operate the App for your child:

We do not collect:

  • Government IDs, fingerprints, voiceprints, or biometric templates. The mood-detection feature does not create any biometric identifier or faceprint; the still image used for mood inference is processed in memory and is never stored or retained.
  • Precise location.
  • Contacts, SMS, call history, or browsing history.
  • Persistent advertising identifiers.

3. How We Use the Information

  • To run the App and remember your child's progress.
  • To recommend puzzle, memory, and quick-thinking games plus quick resets adapted to mood.
  • To provide a parent dashboard so you can monitor patterns and progress.
  • To investigate and fix technical issues.

We do not use any child information for:

  • Behavioural advertising or marketing.
  • Building third-party data products.
  • Practice external AI/ML models.

4. Disclosure to Third Parties

The only third parties who receive child information are vendors that strictly support the App's operation (hosting, authentication, transactional email, crash reporting). They are bound by contract to:

  • Use the data only on our instructions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security.
  • Delete the data when no longer needed.

A current list is in §8 of the Privacy Policy. We do not sell, rent, or trade children's information.


5. Verifiable Parental Consent

Before your child can use the App, we obtain your verifiable consent using one of the following methods:

  1. A small (refundable) credit/debit-card transaction.
  2. A signed digital consent form (e-signature).
  3. A government-approved e-ID where available.

You will receive a confirmation email and can revoke consent at any time.


6. Your Rights as a Parent

You may at any time:

  • Review all personal information we have collected from your child.
  • Request deletion of your child's account and all associated data.
  • Refuse further collection by deleting the account or disabling specific features (camera, notifications).
  • Disable the camera-based mood detection feature in the Parental Dashboard.
  • Set time limits, quiet hours, or study mode.
  • Export mood and game data as CSV or PDF.

To exercise any of these rights, sign in to the Parent Dashboard or email [email protected] from the address on the parent account. We respond within 30 days.


7. Data Security and Retention

  • Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256).
  • Passwords are hashed with bcrypt/Argon2.
  • Mood and game data are retained for up to 24 months, after which they are aggregated/anonymised.
  • On account deletion, data is permanently erased within 30 days (excluding limited backup rotation up to 35 days).

8. Reporting a Concern

If you believe your child's information has been collected or used in violation of COPPA or this Notice, please contact us immediately at [email protected]. We will investigate and, if confirmed, delete the data within 7 days and notify you of the outcome.
